Cinders & Sapphires

Rasheed_At Somerton_Cinders and SapphiresThe first book of the At Somerton series, Cinders & Sapphires follows the Averley family as they return from India to their estate in England, mainly due to the perceived political scandal of Lord Westlake. The eldest daughter, Lady Ada, develops a crush on an Indian gentleman, Ravi, who is traveling to England to be a student at Oxford. Ada badly wants to be a female student at Oxford as well, but in this day and age, it is not approved by society. To make matters worse, Lord Westlake has married for money, the widowed Fiona Templeton, who has three children, Sebastian, Charlotte, and Michael, and Charlotte severely dislikes Ada. Marriage proposals, secret children, scandalous love affairs, and a hunger for the forbidden make this book hard to put down and extremely complicated to summarize! However, if you enjoyed the BBC/PBS show Downton Abbey, or perhaps YA books Wentworth Hall, The Season, or others like it, you should pick up this book!

diamonds & deceitWhile I would not describe it as excellent, (I felt that the story progressed slowly and was almost too scattered with characters and narration), I was entertained and will be reading the second.

This book does contain sexual references.

The second story, Diamonds & Deceit, is being released today!
